Emotional Therapy
Integrative Psychotherapy
Every client is a picture by itself, and therefore it is important to know and understand how to fit the therapeutic process to the client, while the therapy sessions are guided by goals that were set together.
The purpose of emotional therapy is to assist the client to gain tools in order to adjust to different life elements, thoughts, emotions and events that prevent comfort. With the assistance of therapy, the client learns about his/her internal world and express themselves without being judged or criticized, while being able to learn coping methods that are effective and right for the client, and allow better functioning.
Emotional therapy for children and adolescents is different from treating adults because it acquires understanding and knowledge about the developmental phase the client is in. Moreover, such treatment is combined with joint work with the parents.
Emotional therapy is a subject that most parents are having difficulty to talk about. Sometimes difficulty arises due to the understanding that their child is in need of emotional therapy. Yet, it is an important issue to be discussed and acknowledged.
Children and adolescents sometimes experience emotional and behavioral difficulties in the different settings they are part of – school, home, friends, and often don’t understand from where their difficulty arouses. These difficulties can affect the social, educational and daily functioning. There are times when they are able to express their frustration, anger, sadness, joy and pride to their parents. But there are cases where it is not enough, or they are not able because they don’t have the right tools to express that the storm is taking place within.
Integrative psychotherapy works to understand difficulties from different perspectives, interventions in the internal and external aspects while using different techniques in order to better fit the therapeutic process to the client.
The tool I use in therapy with children and adolescents fits the client, using integrative thinking in the therapeutic setting allows to find a better fit of the therapeutic response to the characteristics of the client, his/her family and their life circumstances.
Therapy begins with an intake meeting which is conducted with the parents for acquaintance, impression, setting goals and coordination of expectations.
